Chiefs Challenge 07

This year the 'Chiefs Challenge' Community Dragon Boat Race is to be held at the Liverpool Water Sports Centre on Friday 31st August 2007.

This event is sponsored by Merseyside Police for youth teams from across the Merseyside region to represent their local Police Stations. The event is the brain child of Chief Constable Bernard Hogan-Howe and is part of the Merseyside Police Force Youth Engagement Programme

This is a repeat of last year’s extremely successful event and promises to be another excellent day’s racing for 30 teams of youth from across the region.  If you wish to enter the event, and are under the age of 18 and live in Merseyside, please contact your local police station for further details. You will have to be quick as team places are filling up fast!!

Last years ‘Chiefs Challenge’ was held at the Albert Dock. The winning team was the ‘Merseyside Police Junior Cadet team’. They went on to represent the Merseyside Police Force at the British Dragon Boat Racing Association National League Dragon Boat Race held at the Liverpool Water Sports Centre on Sunday, 17 September 2006. During this event they proved successful enough to win themselves a place in the National Dragon Boat Finals at Nottingham. After some further training by Amathus, the UK’s top Dragon Boat Club who are based in Liverpool, the cadets had a very successful event and were excellent ambassadors for the Police Cadets and the North West.
